PERSONNEL

Richard Lee grew up in court reporting. He started reporting in 1959 for his father, who was the official court reporter for the Hillsborough County circuit court. In 1964 he opened his own freelance office in Tampa. A graduate of the University of Tampa and a former naval aviator, he established a reputation through training and experience for excellence in court reporting.

Warren Lee, president, is an honor graduate of Jesuit High School and of the University of Florida with a degree in business administration. He has worked for more than 30 years with the firm and oversees all of its operations.

Our court reporters are our greatest asset at Richard Lee Reporting, with each sharing the firm-wide philosophy of delivering the highest level of service and personal attention on all job assignments. Their commitment to teamwork and getting the job done right sets us apart.

Let’s face it: Court reporting isn’t cheap. You deserve excellent service – court reporters who are consistently punctual to assignments; clean, readable transcripts and deadlines that are faithfully adhered to.

When you need a court reporter in the Tampa Bay area, give us a call.  We take the greatest care of our customers.

Eclipseville

I was fortunate enough to observe the total eclipse on August 21, 2017, from Hopkinsville, KY, or, as the town whimsically dubbed itself, “Eclipseville.”  They were justified in the nickname by virtue of being the location in the U.S. with the longest total blackout period during the eclipse.  We had a perfect, near-cloudless, sunny day  — well, sunny until about 1:20 p.m.!  Then it got very…dark.

What an awesome phenomenon.  Hopkinsville is a great little town, and the festive atmosphere throughout the morning and roaring of the crowd during the eclipse made it extra special.

I took a couple of shots through a telescope before the totality and then got a still shot through a video camera during the totality and one as the sun was emerging.

Wetlands in the city

Some photos I took at a nesting ground at a small lake in the Northdale area, just east of Dale Mabry.  It’s amazing that this lovely ecosystem, full of wood storks, snowy egrets, herons, roseate spoonbills and others, is situated so close to the crazy traffic and endless strip malls of North Dale Mabry.

Gasparilla Distance Classic 15k

Did the 15k on 2/25/17 and got 5th/244 in my age group for my highest finish ever at Gasparilla. At 67:47, only six seconds slower than last year, when it was 53 degrees and dry at the start, compared with about 69 and muggy this year. Plus I’m not getting any younger!

Dinner with racing legends

Great Gasparilla race weekend. On Friday night, I got a chance to meet racing legends Meb Keflezighi, Bill Rodgers and Joan Benoit Samuelson at a dinner at the USF CAMLS building downtown. They are class acts who spent a lot of one-on-one time chatting with the attendees. It was fascinating and inspirational to hear some of their many racing tales. Bill Rodgers is a hoot! You start talking to him, and he’s instantly like your old friend. And to hear Meb, who fled war-torn Eritrea and became a US citizen, talking about how much it meant to him to represent the USA in the Olympics was very moving.

University of Tampa Journal story about alumnus Richard Lee

Here’s a nice write-up about my father, UT alum Richard Lee, founder of Richard Lee Reporting and luthier extraordinaire, pictured with my brother Gary (have to click photo two separate times to enlarge to readable size).

Chick-Fil-A Fall Stampede

Erin and I had a great time at the Chick-Fil-A Fall Stampede, despite the blistering heat.  This is a relatively new race which benefits the Children’s Cancer Center.

“Fall” Stampede is an apt term, because I fell about four times with a mere quarter mile to finish, due to leg cramps that completely seized control. Just a scraped knee and a loss of a couple minutes, and I still took home a first-place cowbell!

Tide pooling in Monterey, CA

My wife, Erin, and her science department colleagues at Academy of the Holy Names recently attended a week-long conference with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Teacher Institute. They got to go tide pooling! She took some cool photos of crabs, anemones, jellyfish, and more.

A “tweet” from Kentucky

I’m no great photographer, but I do enjoy the challenge of getting good shots of birds. Those flighty fine-feathered friends can be quite fickle when it comes to getting a non-blurry image. Or better yet, you’re all set to snap a great picture and they’re suddenly gone altogether. I put together some shots from a recent trip to the woods of Kentucky.
