Warren and younger brother Gary gamely tackled the 4th Annual Murray Half-Marathon on April 12, grabbing 5th and 9th place age group finishes, respectively.
After enduring one of its coldest winters in years, Murray’s spring bloom was in full force, with flowering trees, daffodils and tulips providing a beautiful backdrop to a challenging, hilly run along the scenic countryside. First race I’ve ever been in with cornfields on either side of the road. And a fun touch was added with the cheering contest, consisting of sororities/fraternities from Murray State University and other high-school groups stationed at every half mile of the course, vying for the title of best cheering group, as judged by vote of runners post-race.
It was the quintessential small-town atmosphere at its finest, with town folks lining the course offering encouragement to the runners on a gorgeous, sunny, 60 degree morning.
